IGM Bologna Unit

IGM Unit in Bologna is distinguished by its ability to combine research on basic biological mechanisms with that translational. Five main research activities can be identified: 1) cell biology and pathology of the nucleus, 2) cell biology and pathology of the extracellular matrix, 3) cell biology and pathology of the neuro-transmitters, 4) cell biology and bone precursors related to biomaterials for orthopedic implant, 5) the study of the biological effects of electromagnetic fields. These lines of research are being undertaken within the research activities of the Department of Medicine at the National Research Council. The methodologies used include: cell biology, molecular biology and biochemistry, immunodetection and image analysis, ultrastructural analysis and study of molecule assembling.
