Education and training

Graduated in Biological Sciences in July 2000 at the University of Bologna, received the Ph.D. in Molecular cytodifferentiation in 2004 at the same University.

From 2000-2005 she has been working as a researcher at  the Neuromuscular Unit of Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute of Bologna.

2005-2006 CNR researcher at the ITOI-CNR and Institute of Molecular Genetics-CNR (IGM-CNR) Unit of Bologna

2007-2008 she has been working as a Post Doc at the Laboratory of Cellular and Muscoloskeletal Biology, Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute (IOR), in Bologna. Research Topic: Study of molecular pathways involved in musculoskeletal system diseases and progeroid syndromes.

From 2008 to present: recruitment as researcher at the Institute of Molecular Genetics - National Research Council (IGM-CNR).

Research Interests

My research is focused on laminopathies, a group of rare genetic disease caused by mutations in genes encoding for nuclear proteins like lamin A/C. I have been studying how lamin A/C is involved in epigenetic regulation of DNA and how this mechanism influence chromatin organization and gene regulation.

Technical skills: molecular biology, biochemical analysis, immunocytochemistry and primary cell cultures obtained from musculoskeletal and skin human biopsies.

She's author or co-author of 42 scientific publications, published in ISI journals (H-index WOS: 21).
