Il giorno 10 aprile 2018 alle ore 15:00 in Aula Falaschi, la Dott.ssa Lucia Monaco (Chief Scientific Officer, Fondazione Telethon) terrà il seminario dal titolo: "Translating the results of basic research to therapies for patients: the experience of Fondazione Telethon with rare genetic diseases." (Ospite: Giuseppe Biamonti).



Lucia Monaco is the head of Research Impact and Strategic Analysis - Centro Studi of Fondazione Telethon, the Italian charity dedicated to rare genetic diseases research. She joined Telethon in 2001 as research program manager and was Telethon's chief scientific officer between 2008 and 2017.  She previously worked as a researcher at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan and earlier she was senior researcher in the Molecular Biology Laboratory of Farmitalia Carlo Erba in Milan. She graduated in chemistry at the University of Pavia and received her training in biochemistry at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, USA and in molecular biology at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany.

She is currently member of several international committees and boards, among which: the Horizon 2020 Advisory Group for Societal Challenge 1 - Health, demographic change and well-being; the External Advisory Board of ERA-Net for Research Programmes on Rare Diseases (E-Rare-3); the Consortium Assembly (formerly Executive Committee) of the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC), and the Board of the European School of Molecular Medicine (SEMM), Milan, Italy.
