Role of translesion synthesis in the metabolism of DNA quadruplexes (G4)

G4 quadruplexes are complex structures formed by guanine rich DNA that can pose a barrier to both transcription and DNA replication. A number of helicases has been involved in their resolution and recently TLS has been found to play a crucial role in replicating past them. The goal of this project is to discover and confirm new roles of polη and TLS polymerases in the replication of complex secondary structures formed by DNA such as G4s.
